BIO

A great acoustic rock base with an infectious folksy-psychedelic feel.  That’s the sound of Charlie West.  (Click Read more to continue.)
Charlie and TeriDrawing influences ranging from early Pink Floyd to present-day Wilco, multi-instrumentalist Charlie West lends credibility to the singer-songwriter genre.  For nearly 20 years, West has been delivering his unique style, combining hypnotic acoustic with electro/psych guitar, while blending melodic sounds with abstract thoughts.

In 1988, West’s only vinyl release Wasted Time, recorded under the pseudonym “Chazz”, was in heavy rotation at college radio stations in Maryland, D.C. and Virginia.  This out-of-print album still can be found at used record stores and online music stores.

West performed locally as a solo artist and in a variety of bands between 1989 and 1993, after which he took to the studio.  The 2001 release, The Charlie West Temporary A.M. Band, and the 2003 release, Confuse My Fuzziness, received excellent reviews locally and nationally.  In defining these works, critics have drawn comparisons to Dylan, early Fleetwood Mac, Crowded House, Love and Rockets and Elliott Smith, to name a few.

Charle WestWest has been spending the last several months performing and promoting his latest CD I Must be in the Wrong Place.  “My goal is to play venues where people genuinely appreciate original music,”  West states.  “I hope to get back in the studio in the next few months and work on some new “old” songs.”

I Must be in the Wrong Place is available on the website, retailed through CD Baby (www.cdbaby.com)and downloadable at apple itunes (www.apple.com/itunes) and iSounds (www.isounds.com).
