UMBRELLA RADIO

>CLICK HERE TO PLAY LIVE RADIO STREAM<

Media Player Requirements:

You must have the latest version of QuickTime Player or RealPlayer with QuickTime Plugins installed.  You must have QuickTime Player or Real Player set as you're primary media player in order to listen to this QuickTime audio stream.

Download QuickTime Player:

Free QuickTime Player Downloads for Mac & PC

Troubleshooting:

Having trouble listening to our Audio Stream?  We know these are simple suggestions, but follow the all the questions below, you would be surprised how many times the error is just a simple oversight.

  • Turn off Pop Up Blocker.  JAVA Script is used to Play the Radio stream in a new window.
  • Is Java installed?
  • Sometimes depending on your settings, you'll hear a small blip of music then silence for 30 seconds before the QuickTime audio stream starts playing normally.  This is merely QuickTime's buffer spooling up the audio stream for continuous play.
  • I have Quicktime but it doesn't work.  Do you have the latest version of QuickTime Player?  Is QuickTime Player or RealPlayer your primary media player?  Usually the last media player installed becomes the default media driver.
  • Are your speakers plugged into your computer, powered up and volume turned up?  Be sure to check your entire speaker wiring and power supply. You'd be surprised how often this is the case.
  • Is your audio driver sending sound to the speakers?  Computer preferences might not be set properly to provide audio to external speakers.
  • Our stream might be down.  It happens sometimes, check back in later.

The spring issue of the Maryland Lawyers for the Arts newsletter has articles of interest to artists of all kinds. Maryland filmmakers will profit from reading “What the Maryland Film Office Wants You to Know About Filming on Location in Maryland.” The article answers questions like: How do I get my locations if I have a tiny budget? How do I write a script to avoid difficult, expensive, and hard-to-get locations?  Don’t citizens (like me) own public parks and public buildings?  What are my unavoidable “hard” costs? What about gunplay or stunts?

Kathi Ash of the Maryland Film Office was the source of information for the article. Meanwhile, the Maryland Lawyers for the Arts’ third annual Jazz Night will be held on Thursday, June 19, from 6 to 8:30 p.m., at the Clipper Mill pool. Tickets are $35; send an e-mail to This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it

Arts Watch

Mount Vernon Place Park, 600 North Charles Street, has been the scene of a controversial project called “Beyond the Compass, Beyond the Square” that was supposed to be up through May 20. The project of Lee Freeman involved putting a gold-colored chain-link fence around all four quadrants of the park. Although art lovers generally liked the concept, dog-walkers and park users were irate that their park was closed off. (Look for more information in the next issue of The Umbrella.)
